ABOUT COMMAND GROUP
Command Group is a Washington, DC–based firm delivering integrated consulting, security, safety, and risk-management services to government and institutional clients operating in complex environments.
Command Group’s Consulting Practice advises forward-leaning international partners on defense, security, and institutional transformation. Our work is informed by real-world operational experience and focused on execution, not theory.

THE ROLE
This is an international consulting role supporting government and foreign institutional clients (sovereign and strategic enterprise). Command Group Associates are embedded with overseas project teams supporting high-impact defense and security transformation initiatives.
The role is execution-heavy and centers on converting senior inputs into decision-ready, executive-caliber deliverables – particularly PowerPoint-based briefing products and supporting memos. You will work day-to-day with Command Group engagement leadership and may interface with 1099 Senior Country Advisors (Flag Officers/SES) who provide senior counsel and client-context support.
This role requires living overseas for extended periods, with periodic return travel to the U.S. consistent with company PTO policy and program requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Synthesize inputs from senior military, civilian, and consulting leaders into clear findings and recommendations
  • Build decision-focused narratives for sovereign/institutional stakeholders, including options and trade-offs
  • Produce executive-quality deliverables – especially visually compelling PowerPoint decks – for senior decision forums
  • Draft executive read-aheads, decision memos, and meeting briefs to complement slide-based outputs
  • Structure problems using consulting methods (issue trees/logic, hypotheses, assumptions, evidence) and maintain analytic traceability
  • Conduct and synthesize structured research (stakeholder mapping, capability baselining, gap analysis) to support recommendations
  • Convert leadership direction and workshop outputs into executable workplans (workstreams, owners, timelines, risks, dependencies)
  • Support workshops, briefings, and leadership sessions (agenda support, facilitation support, live capture, rapid synthesis)
  • Maintain delivery discipline: action registers, decision logs, milestone tracking, and follow-through under tight timelines
  • Produce program assurance artifacts (RAID logs, risk registers, dependency tracking, executive dashboards) and maintain rigorous version control/knowledge management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Former or current U.S. military officer (O-3 through O-5) or equivalent experience in defense/national security consulting at the consultant/senior consultant level
  • Demonstrated ability to produce executive-ready written products
  •  Advanced PowerPoint: executive storytelling, clean visual design, and rapid iteration under deadline
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills; able to translate complex inputs into decision-grade outputs
  • Comfort engaging with senior leaders and operating with professional discretion in sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and deliver high-quality work on tight timelines
  • Demonstrated proficiency using commercial generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate research, synthesis, drafting, and quality assurance – within confidentiality and governance constraints
  • Willingness and ability to live overseas for extended periods and travel as required by program cadence

HIGHLY DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Military intelligence, force development/future force, strategy, or plans background
  • Defense, national security, or management consulting experience (strategy, transformation, or program delivery)
  • Joint, inter agency, multinational, or coalition experience; comfort operating in sovereign/international client environments
  • Workshop support experience: agenda build, facilitation support, live capture, and synthesis into executive-ready outputs
  • Program management/PMO experience in transformation environments: action tracking, dependencies, RAID logs, executive dashboards
  • Experience with defense capability planning and/or operating model work (governance, org design, process, performance management)

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy fast-paced environments, value high-quality output, and want meaningful exposure to senior decision-makers in government and institutional settings.

COMPLIANCE & INTEGRITY
  • Conflicts-of-interest disclosure required
  • Strict confidentiality and data-handling requirements; NDA required
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and anti-corruption standards
  • Role is advisory/consulting in nature; no improper influence, inducements, or prohibited intermediary activity
