About Command Group

Command Group is a Washington, DC–based firm delivering integrated consulting, security, safety, and risk-management services to government and institutional clients operating in complex environments.
Command Group’s Consulting Practice advises forward-leaning international partners on defense, security, and institutional transformation. Our work is informed by real-world operational experience and focused on execution, not theory.

The Role (Mid-Level Consulting Leader – Embedded Delivery)

This is an international consulting role supporting government and foreign institutional clients (sovereign and strategic enterprise). The Senior/Principal Consultant is an embedded delivery leader on high-impact defense and security transformation programs for Command’s clients.
You will work with (1) Command Group consulting team members who drive analytic production and deliverable development and (2) Senior Country Advisors who provide selective senior counsel, client-context insight, and executive-level credibility. You will own substantive content, run day-to-day delivery, maintain cadence, and ensure outputs are decision-ready and implementable.
This is not a fly-in advisory role. It requires being based overseas for extended periods (either already resident in-region or willing to relocate). Travel will be required based on program cadence and client needs, typically within the region; U.S. travel may occur for occasional internal meetings but is not a requirement of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more workstreams end-to-end (diagnose, design, implement), translating senior direction into executable plans.
  • Run the delivery engine: agenda control, action closure, decision capture, meeting preparation, and follow-up in a sovereign client environment.
  • Shape executive narratives and recommendations (options, trade-offs, implications, implementation sequencing).
  • Own quality control of all deliverables (decks, memos, read-aheads), ensuring ministerial-grade clarity and coherence.
  • Manage and develop team members: tasking, coaching, review cycles, and output standards.
  • Support workshops and leadership sessions (design support, facilitation support, live capture, rapid synthesis).
  • Produce and maintain program assurance artifacts (RAID logs, risk registers, dependencies, executive dashboards).
  • Oversee structured research and analysis (stakeholder mapping, capability baselining, gap analysis).
  • Leverage commercial generative AI tools responsibly to accelerate research, synthesis, drafting, and QA within confidentiality and governance constraints.
  • Coordinate with Senior Country Advisors and Command leadership to integrate senior counsel into client-ready outputs.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–9+ years of experience in management consulting (strategy, transformation, operating model, program delivery/PMO), including time at Manager / Engagement Manager level (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering in the Middle East (GCC strongly preferred), including comfort operating in culturally nuanced, senior stakeholder environments.
  • Proven ability to lead workstreams and drive cadence (actions, milestones, dependencies, escalation) on complex programs.
  • Strong executive communication across PowerPoint and writing (decision memos, executive briefs, read-aheads) with rapid iteration under tight timelines.
  • Experience supervising and developing analysts/associates/consultants and enforcing high output standards.
  • Strong problem structuring (issue trees, hypotheses, assumptions, evidence) with analytic rigor and traceability.
  • High discretion and professionalism; ability to operate around sensitive topics and stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to be based overseas for extended periods (already resident overseas is welcomed) and to travel internationally as required by program cadence (primarily within the Middle East/region).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required visas/work authorization, access permissions, and travel clearances needed for in-country delivery.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using commercial generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate research, synthesis, drafting, and QA within confidentiality and governance constraints.

Highly Desired Experience

  • Experience supporting Ministries or sovereign clients (Defense, Interior, National Security) and producing board/ministerial-caliber briefing packages.
  • Defense/security sector work: capability development, institutional reform, security sector transformation, or comparable public sector transformation in security-adjacent domains.
  • Strong PMO leadership in transformation environments (RAID discipline, executive dashboards, governance rhythms).
  • Operating model design (governance, org design, processes, performance management).
  • Arabic language capability (helpful, not required).
  • Prior long-duration embedded client-site roles in the region.

Positioning Summary

This role is ideal for candidates who want to lead high-tempo delivery in a sovereign environment—owning workstreams, driving cadence, producing decision-grade outputs—while partnering with senior advisors and developing a high-performing team.

Compliance & Integrity

  • Conflicts-of-interest disclosure required.
  • Strict confidentiality and data-handling requirements; NDA required.
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and anti-corruption standards.
  • Role is advisory/consulting in nature; no improper influence, inducements, or prohibited intermediary activity.
