Assistant – Policy and Government Contracting

The Command Group (“Command”) is a family of companies providing full spectrum solutions related to safety, security, and intelligence. We assist government and private sector clients on six continents to reduce risk and accomplish organizational objectives.

Command is currently seeking candidates interested in engaging with a diverse array of projects, understanding the dynamics of homeland security policy development, and managing a portfolio to best position and present security solutions to our government and private sector clients.

Command is looking for applicants with a diverse range of skills who are ready to take on a new challenge each day and assist multiple divisions with varying needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a portfolio of aviation security, government contracting, lobbying and policy, and business advisory services;
  • Managing the complete lifecycle development of new projects – from data calls, proposal writing and submission, and assembling a team to client servicing and project deliverables such as reports and presentations;
  • Managing and assisting our team of subject matter experts with various projects and initiatives;
  • Completing extensive research and analysis support for clients;
  • Tracking homeland security policy developments and relevant legislation; and
  • Other projects as assigned.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience and interest in project management, especially with a focus on the federal government.
  • Previous experience with Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and/or the Transportation Security Administration is a plus. Knowledge of or experience with the Congressional process and committees is required. Knowledge of or experience with government contracting and the GSA schedule is also a plus.
  • Have a relevant knowledge-base on international and homeland security issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal / non-verbal communications skills, including writing and research skills. The ability to write professionally in a compelling and concise fashion is a must.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Initiative and ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Positive “can do” attitude and comfortable with meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite applications, especially PowerPoint.
